China has a mature logistics system supporting domestic and international parcel delivery. Covering major domestic delivery services, including SF Express and China Post, as well as global logistics providers such as DHL and FedEx, this guide provides step-by-step instructions on sending parcels, along with information on tracking and related procedures.

Domestic delivery

Most courier services in China offer parcel tracking through their official apps or WeChat mini programs. You can also track shipments through the Cainiao app, a unified logistics platform that integrates multiple courier services.

After placing a pickup order and entering your pickup address, simply wait for the courier to arrive and pay the delivery fee using one of the available payment methods.

Using SF Express as an example, the process for sending a package is as follows:

Visit the official SF Express website and select "Ship Now" on the homepage.

Then log in using a verification code sent to your phone. 

Fill out the form by providing the name, local phone number, and local address in China for both the sender and recipient. 

Choose a shipping method, then schedule a pickup date and time.

Enter the parcel's contents by selecting a matching category or typing the item name manually. Click "Confirm" to continue, then enter the estimated weight and number of items.

Select a payment method and choose either SF Speedy Express or SF Standard Express.

Select optional value-added services such as Shipment Protection Plus.

Leave a message for the courier if you require shipping supplies or other services.

Check the estimated price, tick the checkbox to agree to the e-waybill terms and conditions, and click "Place Order" to confirm.

Real-name verification of the sender will be completed in person when the courier picks up the package. 

 

International delivery 

In addition to international courier companies such as DHL, UPS, and FedEx, domestic providers such as SF Express and China Post are also popular choices for reliable shipping. 

SF Express

On the English website of SF Express, select "International Shipping" under "Individual Services."

You can also search for international shipping services through WeChat mini programs. From the "Discover" tab, tap "Mini Programs" and search for "SF International" or "顺丰国际快递" in the search box.

After entering the SF International mini program, tap "我的" (Me) on the far right of the bottom navigation bar. Next, select "语言设置" (Language Settings), and choose "English".

China Post

China Post, the official postal service of China, provides two broad categories of international delivery: regular postal services and Express Mail Service (EMS).

If you choose the EMS service, you can order online through the "EMS" WeChat mini program. The courier will come to your location to pick up the package, similar to the process described above for SF Express.

Postal services are more cost-effective, although delivery times are generally longer. The China Post WeChat mini program is available only in Chinese.

To send a parcel from a local post office, bring your passport or other valid ID document. Have the items inspected before sealing the parcel, have it weighed and packed, provide the sender's and recipient's details, and pay the postage.
