Introduction

The Advanced Training Program for Young Diplomatic Talents from Belt and Road Countries is sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and organized by the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA), Fudan University.

The program, initiated by the Shanghai Municipal Government, aims to promote mutual understanding among young diplomatic talents from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Themed Consensus, Co-prosperity, and Sharing, the program functions as a platform for participants to learn and discuss China's global role and the future of global governance. It introduces the political, economic, social, cultural, and ecological developments of China, analyzes China's new diplomatic perspectives and policies, and discusses the Belt and Road Initiative, regional cooperation, and governance reforms. Participants are expected to have a better understanding of Chinese diplomacy and the Belt and Road Initiative after completing the program.

Curriculum

The curriculum is comprised of five modules — the Chinese Governance System, the Chinese Economic and Social Development Strategy, Chinese Diplomacy and Construction of a Community with a Shared Future, National Conditions of Belt and Road Countries, and Inheritance and Modernization of Chinese Culture. The program takes the form of lectures, seminars, and workshops. Influential experts, senior diplomats, and practical specialists may be invited. The working language of the program is English.

Application

1. Qualification requirements

Young talents from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including but not limited to those who signed memoranda of understanding with China. General interest and educational background in international politics is a must, and work experience in diplomacy is preferred. Applicants must be under the age of 40.

2. Online application procedure

a. Log onto the website (https://istudent.fudan.edu.cn/apply/#/user/login) to complete the online application (an application fee of 400 yuan ($55.3) must be paid to complete the application).

b. Send the digital version of the system-required documents in a compressed file to sirpa_io@fudan.edu.cn in the format of BRI + FULL NAME + COUNTRY

Enrollment: 20 participants

Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email by May 15

3. Financial support

The program tuition fee is waived via support of the Shanghai Government Scholarship.

Accommodation & transportation fee:

Certain subsidies will be provided for the 10 selected candidates; other candidates shall cover their accommodation and transportation fees.

Certificate of completion

A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants with full attendance and good performance.
