Donghua University Spring 2025 General Chinese Program
The International Cultural Exchange School of Donghua University was the first Chinese institution accredited by Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services for high teaching quality and management in language education. It provides various popular non-degree Chinese language programs on DHU's downtown campus in Shanghai.
During the upcoming 2025 spring semester, the school will continue to offer its renowned General Chinese Language Programs, which will provide students with a high-quality learning experience, rich learning resources, and supportive guidance.
01 Program information
Schedule
March 3 - July 4, 2025
Classes run every Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 12:15 pm Beijing Time
02 Program plan
Different levels
Beginner, elementary, intermediate, and advanced (minimum class size is eight students).
Participants will take a placement test to evaluate their Chinese proficiency and will be arranged in the proper class based on their test results. Placement test information will be emailed to students before the start of the semester. Students may request a course adjustment within the designed timeframe during the first week of instruction.

Learning materials
This program utilizes the Chinese in Real Life textbook series. In addition, ICES will provide various Chinese learning materials, including flashcards, language points, recorded videos, dialogue videos, audios and course summaries.
An online learning management platform stores all learning materials and assignments, making it easier for students to review the course content at any time.
03 Fees
Application fee: 600 yuan ($82.95)
Tuition: 10,800 yuan (includes textbook fee)
Insurance: 400 yuan per semester
04 Others
Visa
The university will provide student visa and residence permit (study) application documents for students on a case-by-case basis. Please consult with the ICES office for details.
Accommodation
Students can apply for campus accommodation, which will be arranged according to availability and other circumstances. Please check your email frequently and read official notices carefully.
Refunds
Application fee: Non-refundable
Tuition:
-- Full refund: study terminated before the start of classes.
-- 50 percent refund: study terminated in the first week of study.
-- No refund will be accepted from the second week of study onwards.
Insurance
To ensure their safety, international students in China are required to purchase insurance, of which the validity should be enough to cover the entire duration of study. The cost is 400 yuan per semester.

Online application
-- Submit an online application at https://admissions.dhu.edu.cn/.
-- Upload an image of the applicant's passport page, visa page, and ID photo.

* New applicants recommended by a current or former DHU international student will enjoy an application fee waiver. The full name of the referrer is needed.
* A student who continues one's study will enjoy an application fee waiver and tuition deduction. Please await further notice.
Admission
Applications will be officially evaluated after submission. Evaluation results will be delivered via email within two to four weeks. Admitted students will receive an email with the relevant information on the online placement test and enrollment affairs for the new semester.
Enrollment
Registration date: Feb 26-27, 2025 (tentative)
Attention!
All students are required to complete the registration procedures within the designated period. The school will disqualify anyone who fails to enroll in accordance with the requirements. Please be sure to follow the latest official news and personal emails.
