Shanghai Theatre Academy Chinese language program (spring)

1. About the program

The Chinese language program offers six levels of classes:

A (Beginner level)

B (Elementary level)

C (Intermediate level 1)

D (Intermediate level 2)

E (Advanced level 1)

F (Advanced level 2)

The elementary level courses include reading, speaking, and listening. The intermediate level and above include writing, Chinese culture, etc.

Students at levels B to F will be placed according to the results of a placement test.  The spring program consists of 18 weeks with 20 sessions per week. The timetable will be issued one week before the start of the new term.

The above courses will be conducted in person. Courses will be canceled if there are not enough participants. Courses and activities may be subject to change.

* Students must register at the International Students Office on the scheduled enrollment date. Any delays must be approved by the office.

3. Fees

Tuition: 9,000 yuan ($1,233.14) per semester

Books: 300 yuan per semester

Registration fee: 400 yuan

Insurance fee: 400 yuan per semester

4. Application process

Eligibility:

a. Possess a high school certificate (or equivalent) or above

b. Age between 18 and 50

c. Hold a valid passport (passport validity should be more than six months)

Submission:

a. Log into the iso.sta.edu.cn online application system to fill out your application form. For a guide to the system, please check "Guide to STA Online Application Portal (Overseas Students)".

b. The International Students Office will review your application documents and contact you.

c. Once the application is approved, transfer your registration fee, tuition fee, and book fee to the STA financial office as instructed by the International Students Office. (Please note your passport name and subject)

Admission:

The admission result will be released within 20 working days after the submission of application materials. Delays may occur due to system maintenance.

5. Visa

STA will provide documents for students to apply for a student visa or residence permit. Students staying in China for over six months require a passport and X1 visa. Those staying less than six months need a passport and X2 visa.

6. Insurance

According to regulations of China's Ministry of Education, international students must purchase mandatory Foreign Students Overall Insurance during their stay in China. The insurance fee is 800 yuan per year or 400 yuan for four to six months. The insurance will be paid by the students and processed by the International Students Office.
