Driven by a passion for healing and preserving lives, Tawanda Mupini from Zimbabwe has nurtured the dream of becoming a doctor since childhood and set out on a path to pursue his studies in China. Currently, he is undertaking the six-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program at Shanghai Medical College at Fudan University.

In July 2023, Mupini commenced a year-long clinical internship, rotating through various departments at Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University, including general surgery, orthopedics, thoracic surgery, and others.

During his internship, Mupini observed that his supervising professor Wang Huiren often demonstrated great care and concern for the patients and their families. Inspired by the professor, Mupini aims to not only acquire excellent medical skills but also provide humanistic care to patients. Despite not being fluent in Chinese, he actively communicates with patients and their families, strives to assist them to the best of his ability, and has received much gratitude, forging deep friendships with his patients.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Mupini engages in various extracurricular competitions. In the national finals of the sixth SFLEP Cup National College Students' Intercultural Competence Contest last year, Mupini and his teammates secured the International Student Group Third Prize (Bronze) and the Best Cooperation Award.

With more than half of his six-year undergraduate studies behind him, Mupini has evolved from a naive freshman into an outstanding prospective doctor. "Do my best, respect patients, care for patients," is his mantra. He aspires to remain true to his original ambition and uphold this enthusiasm throughout his future medical studies and practice.
