A group of international students from Tongji University recently embarked on a captivating journey to Southwest China's Chongqing municipality and Sichuan province, where they immersed themselves in the rich Bashu (Chongqing-Sichuan) culture.

Upon their arrival in Chongqing, the students were captivated by the well-known Liziba Subway Station, which was built inside a residential building. This location showcased the daring creativity of local architects and designers.

In Lizhuang town, Sichuan province, the students explored the historic site of the Medical College of National Tongji University, where they uncovered the compelling history of Tongji University's dedication to education and national resilience during the chaotic wartime period. Subsequently, they interacted with and exchanged cultural insights with sophomores at Lizhuang High School. They also shared aspects of their own countries, traditions, culinary delights, and music.

The Dujiangyan Irrigation System, located in Chengdu, Sichuan province, stands as the most intact ancient water conservancy project in China. The touring students marveled at the system’s intricate components, such as the fish mouth levee, flying sand weir, and bottle-neck channel, all of which unveiled the profound wisdom of ancient Chinese architects.

At the Chengdu Research Base for Giant Panda Breeding, the students were enchanted by China's beloved national treasures—giant pandas. After delving into panda behaviors, reproduction patterns, and unique environmental needs, the students gained a comprehensive understanding of the significance of ecological preservation on a global scale.
