During a visit to the Nanjing project site of China Railway 11 Bureau Group Corporation, participants learned about the innovative approach of "utilizing underground space" as a solution to urban resource shortages.
A third-year doctoral student from Pakistan commented, "Before exploring the construction of underground spaces, one must fully consider the social and economic impacts. China excels in this area, setting an example for other countries around the world."
The students also donned safety helmets to visit the construction site of Nanjing's Metro Line 4 Phase II project. The project manager provided a comprehensive explanation of safety, quality, and scientific construction practices, and later addressed questions regarding safety controls for the long-distance shield tunneling work that is currently ongoing underneath the Yangtze River.
