As 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, Donghua University continues to prioritize educational collaboration with French institutions. Let's delve into the inspiring journeys of the two French students at DHU.

Charlotte Lezongar and Rachel Leroy, master's students from the ENSAIT Textile Engineering School in France, began their academic adventure in China in June 2023, fueled by their passion for Chinese culture and textile studies.

"I learned about Donghua University's prestigious textile program while in France. Studying here has always been my dream," Lezongar revealed. "Upon arrival, I toured the classrooms and laboratories, which are all perfect for my research and studies."

Leroy added with enthusiasm, "China hosts the largest textile market and the richest textile culture. I want to experience it firsthand!"

Mentorship is pivotal in graduate studies. Professors Ding Yi and Lu Chunhong from the College of Textiles have become essential guides and friends to Lezongar and Leroy. They provide meticulous academic guidance and invaluable personal support. Lezongar observed that the teacher-student relationship in China is much closer, with open communication through WeChat.

Their mentors encouraged them to attend more lectures and explore their research interests, while Chinese classmates patiently taught them experimental techniques, making them feel welcomed and fulfilled.

When they had free time, Lezongar and Leroy explored China's stunning landscapes. Recently, they visited Beijing, and Harbin in Heilongjiang province. "Standing on the Great Wall, I couldn't believe that one of the Seven Wonders of the World was right beneath my feet. It was surreal. I hope to have more opportunities to experience China's unique culture and scenery," Lezongar shared.
