Egyptian students in Shanghai explore TCM, cultural heritage

Nearly 50 Egyptian students from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine embarked on an immersive cultural experience at the Fengxian district of East China’s Shanghai on Aug 5.

At the Fengxian Museum, they explored the presentation Craftsmanship and Nature: Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Technological Artifacts – delving into the evolution of ancient Chinese technology and its global contributions.

Through artifacts, images and texts, the students engaged in a profound cultural dialogue that transcended time and space.

At the community health service center in Nanqiao town, the students experienced the wonders of traditional Chinese medicine or TCM, including acupuncture and cupping.

Guided by physicians, they discovered the seamless integration of TCM with modern medical techniques, gaining a deeper appreciation of Chinese medical culture.

What's more, activities such as baduanjin – a traditional Chinese form of aerobics – as well as herbal sachet crafting and the intangible cultural heritage of Nanqiao Paper Tearing art, showcased the unique allure of traditional Chinese culture.

Through exchanges, learning and hands-on engagement, the Egyptian students developed a more nuanced understanding of China's traditional culture and contemporary advancements, infusing new vitality into the friendship between China and Egypt.
