Shanghai University's opening class highlights global Chinese education
The College of International Education at Shanghai University held the "First Class of the New Semester" for its incoming students on Aug 30.
The event welcomed both international undergraduate students and master's degree students in International Chinese Education.
The stated primary objective was to foster a spirit of exploration by offering an in-depth introduction to the allure of the Chinese language, the current landscape of international Chinese education and the roles of various college departments. It also aimed to clearly articulate the college's educational goals and mission.
Dean Li Yingjie of the College of International Education commenced the session by highlighting the unique phonetic beauty and charm of Chinese characters – vividly demonstrating the profound cultural heritage and artistic qualities of Chinese as a cultural medium.
She further elaborated on the global framework of international Chinese education, the ongoing digital and intelligent transformations, cultural exchanges and the latest advances in the field.
Addressing the college's mission and vision, Dean Li affirmed the institution's dedication to cultivating international talent with exceptional Chinese cultural communications skills – aiming to develop global leaders who contribute to the community of a shared future for humanity.
