Cultural odyssey in Nantong through eyes of SHU intl students
In late September, international students from Shanghai University participated in a special segment of the 2024 "China Through My Eyes" short video contest, embarking on an exploration of Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province. This immersive experience blended technology with traditional culture, prompting students to create short videos that conveyed their insights and narratives about the city.
Over two days, students from diverse backgrounds explored cultural landmarks such as the Nantong Blue Calico Museum, China Abacus Museum, China Dieshiqiao International Home Textile City Museum, and the inheritance and development center for Haimen Shen Embroidery. They captured the vibrant interplay of Nantong's folk arts and modern urban culture through their lenses, highlighting the city's unique allure.
The students also engaged with locals, gaining insights into Nantong's rich history and cultural traditions. These interactions enhanced their understanding of China and infused their videos with greater cultural depth.
Appaz Adel, an advertising major from Kazakhstan, shared her enduring passion for travel, having explored numerous countries and regions. She holds China in special regard and aims to capture and share Nantong's scenic beauty and cultural essence through the event.
