International students explore Minhang Museum
International students at the Shanghai University of Engineering Science recently participated in a linguistic activity at the Minhang Museum in Minhang district, Shanghai.
On entering the museum, the Chinese language students were divided into groups of three for a lively exploration of the museum.
The first task — called "Finding Objects in Pictures" — prompted them to quickly pinpoint historical items like ink, baskets, and hairpins.
Subsequently, they identified iconic structures such as the library, bank, train station, and airport that were featured in historical photos of Minhang district.
Witnessing the century-old images, the students marveled at Shanghai's rapid transformation over time.
In the following activities, the students conversed in Chinese to seek assistance from museum visitors, taking photos at designated spots.
Exploring the ancient musical instrument gallery on the first floor, the students discovered similarities between traditional Chinese and Western instruments, deepening their understanding of cultural differences.
During the final Chinese listening game, the students successfully located relevant exhibits in the Confucius Relics Exhibition based on instructions, integrating Chinese learning practice with museum exploration.
