Economics freshmen immerse in cultural festivities at Tongji University

About 60 students from over 10 countries and regions recently gathered at the School of Economics and Management at Tongji University for an orientation ceremony and a series of traditional Chinese cultural activities.

Liang Jian, vice-dean of the school, welcomed the students, highlighting China's geographical diversity as well as technological and cultural achievements, while also stressing the importance of cross-cultural exchange.

The cultural experience activities allowed students to try writing good luck messages and their Chinese names with calligraphy brushes.

Additionally, students were offered a firsthand experience of Lantern Festival. They tasted the traditional Chinese delicacy tangyuan, or glutinous rice balls, and enjoyed a vibrant lion dance performance.

The welcoming event concluded with a guide tour of Shanghai. The blend of modernity and history allowed students to appreciate the unique charm of this global metropolis.
