Zimbabwean visionary: Shamiso Fungura's entrepreneurial journey in Shanghai
Shamiso Fungura, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur, graduated in 2024 with a master's degree in finance from the Sydney Institute of Language and Commerce at Shanghai University.

Arriving in Shanghai in September 2022, she was driven by an admiration for China and a passion for entrepreneurship. Over the following two years, Fungura not only excelled academically but also launched her own company — Koki Delivery (Shanghai QiaoSuPei Information Technology), in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area in 2024, along with her partners.
Their mission is to enhance trade connections between China and Africa. The company focuses on four main areas: e-commerce, imports and exports, warehousing and distribution, and on-demand delivery.
Currently, Koki Delivery is concentrating on e-commerce and import-export trade between the two regions, with plans to expand. Fungura also introduced an e-commerce app that allows Chinese users to sell a wide range of products to international users.

During her time at Shanghai University, Fungura engaged in various campus activities and entrepreneurial endeavors. Through practical experiences and academic competitions, she gained valuable insights and built a robust industry network.
She attributes her ability to navigate potential pitfalls to the entrepreneurial resources provided by the university. Fungura also emphasized the institute's focus on blending theoretical knowledge with real-world experience as a critical foundation for her entrepreneurial success.

Fungura's journey has inspired international students to pursue their dreams and get immersed in the local environment. As she puts it, "Always remember, no matter how challenging it seems, you can achieve it. If I can, so can you."
