Exploring Hongkou with international students
Thirty students from 13 countries and regions, including Belgium, Italy, and Canada, joined Chinese students on a cultural exploration of Hongkou district, Shanghai on March 13.
The journey began at Quyuan Garden. Designed by the esteemed landscape architect Chen Congzhou, this garden is featured for its Jiangnan (lower reaches of the Yangtze River) style. Here, students toured the newly renovated Changxu Hall, a popular spot for leisure and entertainment among locals.

The students then strolled along Beisuzhou Road, where the clear waters of Suzhou Creek merge with historic architecture and modern developments. As they walked along the riverbank, they delved into the century-old history of iconic landmarks and the city's rapid development.

Their journey continued at the Shanghai Postal Museum. A Polish student was captivated by the themed stamps. She expressed her newfound passion for stamp collecting as a way to gain deeper insight into China's diverse culture.

One Canadian student was especially excited about the trip, highlighting Shanghai's stunning landscapes and the warmth of its people. Having studied Chinese for a year and a half, he plans to further his studies at Shanghai International Studies University.
