Global youth embrace local culture in Hongkou
A group of international youth visited the citizen service station of Jiaxing Road subdistrict in Hongkou district on April 14 to experience life as a local. The event was part of the "Youth Explorer Program" for young people worldwide, co-organized by Shanghai International Studies University and the Nouvelles d'Europe media group.
Young people from around the world joined locals in activities like yoga, table tennis, and wellness ball games, fostering connection and understanding. A participant named Elliot, lauded the service station's comprehensive facilities, noting the free play areas for children and attentive services for seniors.

The group also explored Shanghai's first low-carbon experience center, where Elliot experienced an innovative low-carbon coffee lab. By cycling to grind coffee beans, he and his peers engaged in a unique low-carbon exercise that captivated many, prompting a flurry of photos and interest in the low-carbon products on display, including power banks and speakers.

They also participated in traditional activities such as tai chi and Chinese painting.

Reflecting on the day, Matt, a participant who studied Chinese at the University of London, had high praise for the event. It was his first time in Shanghai, and he was impressed by the city's pleasant climate and abundance of 24-hour amenities, describing the environment as both relaxing and safe.
