SUFE intl cultural festival brings culture and dreams together
Cultural exchange took center stage as the 21st International Cultural Festival opened at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics on May 6, spotlighting a shared vision of global unity through youth dialogue, innovation and tradition.
The event featured an international food festival and a range of interactive activities under the theme "Bridging Hearts, Building Dreams".
Thirty booths jointly run by international students offered a vibrant culinary journey across continents, serving delicacies such as Kazakhstan's Samsa (baked stuffed bun), Thai nomyen (pink milk), and French croissants. Students showcased unique cultures of their countries through traditional clothing, crafts and games.
"We prepared a Vietnamese food tasting with coconut glutinous rice, spring rolls and mixed rice paper," said a Vietnamese student. "These dishes represent our culture and close ties between Vietnam and China."
The school created a space for Chinese cuisine and cultural activities, featuring lantern riddles, poetry recitals, and interactive games like paper cutting and pinball.
An innovation and entrepreneurship exhibition also drew attention, highlighting creative projects by SUFE's international students. Projects included a campus coffee shop founded by Malaysian students, and a village survey on rural tourism in Anqing, Anhui province conducted by students from Japan and Ecuador.
"As a French student passionate about Chinese culture, I feel it is important to share these experiences in France," said a 2024 undergraduate. "It’s about promoting a more inclusive and diverse world."
