Shanghai Business School organized an online sharing and exchange session for international students on Aug 28, inviting them to explore China's popular summer destinations.

Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai were highlighted during the session.

Beijing, an ancient capital with over 3,000 years of history, serves as both the political and cultural heart of China and a repository of its heritage.

Xi'an, historically known as Chang'an, is one of China's four great ancient capitals, renowned for its rich historical and cultural legacy.

Shanghai, one of China's economic hubs and a global metropolis, blends tradition and modernity through its contrasting architecture. Historic buildings along the Bund stand opposite modern landmarks like the Oriental Pearl Tower, together forming the distinctive Shanghai-style urban skyline.

Beyond cityscapes, the event also introduced local culinary cultures. Participants learned about Beijing's enduring signature dishes such as Peking duck, zhajiangmian (fried sauce noodles), douzhi (fermented bean juice), and jiaoquan (crispy fried dough ring). Xi'an's roujiamo (Chinese-style meat burger), yangrou paomo (Pita bread soaked in lamb soup), and liangpi (cold noodles) reflected the distinctive flavors of Northwestern Chinese cuisine. Shanghai's xiaolongbao (steamed meat buns), shengjianbao (pan-fried buns), and paigu niangao (pork ribs with rice cakes) were highlighted.

To further enhance students' Chinese language skills, the event included vocabulary and phrase exercises related to each city.

By combining tourism, food culture, and language learning, the event not only fostered cross-cultural communication, but also gave students deeper insights into China's cultural diversity.
