Shanghai Normal University welcomed more than 800 students from over 70 countries between Sept 22 and 23, bringing fresh vitality and multicultural diversity to the campus.

The registration process featured seven key steps: collecting registration forms, identity verification, visa policy and safety briefing, insurance registration, visa check, scheduling medical appointments, activating campus cards and smart campus access, and receiving a welcome package with thoughtfully prepared supplies.

Volunteers from the International Student Association supported the registration. With their fluent language skills, they explained enrollment procedures to the newcomers and guided them through various registration stations.

When encountering students from the same country, the volunteers switched naturally to their native language, bridging the gap and giving newcomers feel at home.

Staff members also provided support, answering questions and helping students complete registration smoothly.

After completing the registration process, the newcomers, including postgraduate, undergraduate, preparatory, and exchange students, were ready to embark on their academic journeys in different colleges and programs.

Many expressed a strong interest in the Chinese language and culture, and were eager to explore further. They are also looking forward to experiencing the charm of Shanghai, an international metropolis.
