International students immerse themselves in spring culture
The International Education College at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) hosted an apricot blossom-themed cultural event on March 14, inviting more than 200 international students to immerse themselves in the spring charm and enjoy cross-cultural experiences.
The highlight of the event was the international market, where students set up stalls to showcase the customs and cultures of their home countries. Visitors sampled delicacies, selected handmade crafts, and savored health teas such as goji berry and chrysanthemum, as well as rose with aged tangerine peel, while testing their knowledge of Chinese history through interactive quizzes beneath the apricot trees.
The interactive zones drew crowds for cultural activities such as DIY lacquer fan painting, intangible cultural heritage bookmark making, traditional pitch-pot games, and hanfu attire experiences. Students proudly displayed their creations and posed for photos, capturing memorable moments together.
Many participants said that the event not only offered them an opportunity to experience traditional Chinese culture firsthand but also provided a platform to share diverse cultural traditions, fostering cross-cultural exchange and lasting friendships.
