Pudong airport opens China-chic duty-free zone
Shanghai Airport Authority (SAA) and China Duty Free Group (CDF) have opened a guochao, or China-chic, duty-free zone in the International, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan departure area near Gate D75 of Terminal 2 at Pudong International Airport.
Covering more than 200 square meters, the new space is the largest duty-free space dedicated to Chinese brands at any single airport in China.
The zone features an immersive shopping environment highlighting Chinese innovation and traditional aesthetics. It showcases a wide range of Chinese brands, including beauty and skincare items, cultural and creative products, trendy collectibles, food, and health products.
The beauty and skincare section includes brands such as Judydoll, Joocyee, Documents Fragrances, HBN, Winona, Chando, LAN, and Forest Cabin. The selection covers makeup, fragrances, functional skincare products, and botanical-based offerings, reflecting growing demand for science-based beauty products and skincare inspired by traditional Chinese ingredients.
The cultural and creative section combines traditional craftsmanship with modern trends. Time-honored brands and those recognized for intangible cultural heritage, including high-end luxury tabletop manufacturer Auratic, are featured alongside trendy Chinese brands such as Rich Flower and Toptoy.
The food and health section includes products from Chinese tea and health brands, such as China Tea and Hongjitang, catering to travelers looking for gifts or personal-use items.
The duty-free zone has also introduced summer travel promotions, including Shanghai-exclusive products and double-gift offers from selected brands.
Since the beginning of this year, Pudong airport has adopted a new duty-free operating model featuring both leading domestic and international duty-free operators. CDF manages duty-free stores in Terminal 2 and the S2 satellite hall, while Avolta operates stores in Terminal 1 and the S1 satellite hall.
The airport has continued to expand its duty-free offering by providing both international luxury brands and premium Chinese products, while adding more options in categories such as fragrances, cosmetics, liquor, and food.
