Shanghai to host biggest international senior care expo in June
The International Exhibition of Senior Care, Rehabilitation Medicine and Healthcare, Shanghai 2025 will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from June 11 to 13.
This year's event will bring together nearly 500 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions — including Austria, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark — across a massive exhibition area of 50,000 square meters.
Japan leads all the overseas participants, with more than 60 brands, while Australia is making its biggest-ever appearance at the expo — highlighting the global surge in interest in aging-related innovation.
A focal point of this year's expo is the display of cutting-edge senior care technologies, demonstrating China's shift from basic care to smart, high-quality aging solutions. Key innovations include:
- World's first fully autonomous wheelchair robot: Features indoor and outdoor obstacles avoidance, a special navigation system with omnidirectional movement and 3D sensing for fall and tilt detection.
- Lumis bi-level non-invasive ventilator: A high-performance solution offering up to 30 cmH₂O pressure for COPD (a common lung disease) patients, representing top-tier respiratory care in home settings.
To meet the increasingly diverse needs of older folks, this year's expo includes several themed exhibition areas:
Elderly lifestyle pavilion
Integrating award-winning designs from the 12th China Elderly Design & Innovation Competition, this area explores six life scenarios — smart elderly homes, art spaces, senior communities and more.
Rehabilitation and assistive technology innovation zone
Organized to meet specific needs, this immersive zone offers hands-on interaction and expert consultations. Featured areas include:
- Mobility aids area
- Personal hygiene devices area
- Sleep and pain management areas
Elder-friendly food fair
A fun and engaging flash zone featuring AI-enabled dining tools, expert Q&As, live tastings and more — blending health, culture and technology to promote better nutrition for seniors.
As part of the city's ongoing Shanghai Shopping Festival, Hall W2 will be transformed into the Golden Years Festival, especially tailored for senior citizens.
The festival will display products ranging from health foods and smart home solutions to travel and fashion. Visitors can enjoy up to 30 percent off elder-friendly products and experience the future of senior living through interactive "Eat • Live • Travel" demos.
