Work permit application process in China
To apply for a work permit in China for foreign individuals, their employers can update information in the service system for foreigners working in China (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) using one of the following two methods:
1. Register on the Government Online-Offline Shanghai website
2. Sign up and file registration on the government service platform of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security
Here are the specific types of applications to suit various needs:
Foreigner's Work Permit: Application (less than 90 days, including 90 days)
Foreigner's Work Permit: Notification letter (more than 90 days)
Foreigner's Work Permit: Application (more than 90 days)
Foreigner's Work Permit: Extension (more than 90 days)
Foreigner's Work Permit: Modification (more than 90 days)
Foreigner's Work Permit: Cancellation (more than 90 days)
*Please note that everything to do with your work permit application should be coordinated through your future employer. As stated in "How to get a work permit", you must receive a job offer from a legal company in China before beginning the process of applying for a work permit.
