Swiss dental implant giant Straumann Group has introduced its first Shanghai-manufactured dental implants, marking the full launch of its China production, education, and research center in the city.

The facility is the company's third-largest implant production base worldwide, designed to uphold the same quality standards as its Swiss counterparts.

It replicates the entire Swiss quality chain and integrates global expert knowledge to ensure seamless technology transfer. Each implant undergoes more than 30 complex procedures, supported by cutting-edge equipment to achieve the highest precision in manufacturing.

Straumann CEO Guillaume Daniellot highlighted the strategic importance of the center, noting its role beyond national borders. It focuses on "smart manufacturing, education and training, and innovative research and development" to deliver authentic Swiss quality for both Chinese and global markets.

The center benefits from advanced smart equipment and information systems, surpassing even those at Straumann's manufacturing site in Villeret, Switzerland. It also gathers top talent from around the world to ensure quality assurance.

The center aims to create an integrated development ecosystem. Its first-floor dental clinic features a live surgery broadcast system and comprehensive medical equipment to promote cutting-edge dental implant practices and standardized procedures through broadcasts and seminars.

This initiative is expected to accelerate the introduction of innovative products and technologies in China, supporting the growth of dental professionals.

In terms of R&D, the center will focus on the needs of the local market, carrying out localized innovation to cater to the anatomical and clinical requirements of Chinese patients.

By identifying and nurturing early-stage domestic technology projects, the center aims to transition from "Made in China" to "Created in China", continuously infusing Straumann's global innovation ecosystem with "Chinese wisdom".

Jiang Xinquan, dean of Shanghai Stomatological Hospital, Fudan University, said that this "production-education-research-medical" integration model can swiftly transform practical clinical challenges into new research and production standards, accelerating the clinical application of advanced technologies to benefit patients.
