The China-Chile Investment Promotion and Collaboration Exchange Conference recently took place at Changyang Campus innovation park — located in Shanghai's Yangpu district — to foster closer economic ties between the two nations.

The event marked a significant milestone in the burgeoning relationship between Changyang Campus and ProChile, the trade promotions arm of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Changyang Campus, a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, has attracted a raft of globally minded business enterprises, many of which are eyeing the promising South American market — particularly Chile — known for its immense economic potential.

ProChile, renowned for its extensive global network, is focusing on assisting Chilean businesses to expand their international footprints while supporting the dissemination of investment opportunities in Chile and promoting the country's tourism.

During the event, the Yangpu district commission of commerce highlighted Shanghai's business-friendly environment and the latest foreign investment incentives. That’s while Alberto A. Cañas, trade commissioner of ProChile in Shanghai, shed light on his country's investment climate and market resources.

Chilean companies sealed agreements to establish a presence in Changyang Campus, including the establishment of the new entity — NYT Business Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. — signaling the official commencement of a promising partnership.

The event was said to provide Chilean companies with a deeper understanding of the Chinese market and offer Chinese enterprises a gateway to expand into Chile and the broader South American market.

Attendees said that by establishing a foothold in Changyang Campus park, Chilean companies could easily and confidently integrate into the Chinese market and expand their business channels — while Chinese enterprises could gain valuable insights and resources about the Chilean market, thereby reducing barriers to entry and risks associated with market expansion.

A spokesperson from the district’s commerce authority expressed a commitment to strengthening collaboration with international institutions.

That's to facilitate the internationalization of local enterprises, attract more foreign businesses to the district and provide better international commercial opportunities for local businesses — injecting new vitality into China-Chile economic cooperation.
