Brazil Center opens in Yangpu district
A ceremony marking the settlement of the first group of institutions and companies in the newly launched Brazil Center was held in Shanghai's Yangpu district on Aug 15, the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil.
Set to serve as a key cooperation hub, the facility will support Brazilian companies in entering the Chinese market while assisting Chinese enterprises in their expansion into Brazil.
"The Brazil Center's opening comes at a time when our strategic partnership is at its best," said Augusto Pestana, Brazil's consul general in Shanghai.
"It will strengthen our cooperation in technology and innovation, and serve as a platform for exchanges in business, culture, education and tourism," he added.
A cooperation agreement was also signed between the China International Import Expo Bureau and the Brazil Center under the witness of Pestana and Zhou.
In the future, the two sides will encourage Brazilian tech firms to participate in the CIIE's innovation incubation zone and expand their market presence in China through the CIIE.
The ceremony also marked the launch of the Yangpu Brazil Football Culture Exchange Center, representing an important step in sports cooperation between Yangpu and Brazil, following their deep collaboration in technology, trade, and culture.
In addition to Pestana and Zhou, the ceremony also drew representatives of the first institutions and enterprises establishing a presence at the center, such as the investment promotion agency of Brazil's Mato Grosso state.
