Recruitment of volunteers for 8th CIIE opens

The recruitment of professional volunteers for the 8th China International Import Expo, which will take place in Shanghai on Nov 5-10, is now underway.

The following are the recruitment requirements:

Desired applicants

Volunteers with relevant professional skills, language proficiency, and a passion for participating in the CIIE are sought from foreign-funded enterprises, non-public enterprises, new economic organizations, new social organizations, and new employment groups.

Nov 5-10, 2025

Recruitment criteria

1. Comply with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China.

2. Demonstrate enthusiasm for volunteering, a commitment to volunteer service, and a willingness to participate in CIIE volunteer work and accept the organizer's assignment of roles.

3. Be between 18 and 45 years of age, in good physical and mental health, with strong resilience under stress and a willingness to work hard.

4. Be fluent in spoken foreign languages.

5. And exhibit strong organizational, communications and interpersonal skills.

Position requirements

1. Professional docents for reception in Business Exhibition areas

Job description:

Assist the organizers in delivering professional presentations within the exhibition area and providing expert commentary on the tour routes for important visiting delegations.

Specific requirements:

Must have a professional background related to one of the six major Business Exhibition areas of CIIE — including technique equipment, consumer goods, food and agricultural products, automobiles, medical equipment and healthcare products.

2. Professional docents at Country Exhibition pavilions

Job description:

Assist countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative in showcasing their unique cultures and key industries.

Specific requirements:

Must be familiar with the history and culture of BRI countries, and have experience in organizing large events.

3. Multilingual translators

Job description:

Provide multilingual translation services for exhibitors, buyers and professional visitors during business negotiations.

Specific requirements:

Must have strong foreign language communication skills, and in addition to English, must be proficient in at least one other foreign language.

4. Coordinators

Job description:

Provide exhibition services, consultation, and other support to exhibitors and buyers, and assist the organizers with liaison, coordination, and personnel training management.

Specific requirements:

Must have experience in team management and a strong service orientation.

5. Foreign-related legal service providers

Job description:

Provide intellectual property and commercial legal consultation services to exhibitors and buyers.

Specific requirements:

Must have a background in law, particularly in intellectual property law and civil and commercial law.

Preferred qualifications

Priority will be given to:

1. Versatile volunteers with expertise in industries such as technical equipment, consumer goods, food and agricultural products, automobiles, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare, as well as with foreign language proficiency.

2. Volunteers who provided professional volunteer services for the 7th CIIE or other large-scale exhibitions, and demonstrated outstanding performance.

Application period and process

The application period is open from now to Sept 25.

Support and incentives

Professional volunteers will receive meals, supplies and transportation services, along with personal accident insurance provided by the Shanghai Volunteers program.
