Volunteers ready for CIIE, offering expert services
On Oct 22, a total of 1,495 volunteers, including 168 professionals and 1,327 individuals dedicated to promoting urban civility, were sworn in at the south square of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) to assist with the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The ceremony marked the beginning of their duties, which include providing specialized services such as foreign-related legal assistance and multilingual translation. Immediately after the ceremony, volunteers dispersed to various service points to begin their training.
This year's cohort brings together expertise from fields such as law, finance, consumer goods, communications, energy, the automotive sector, and healthcare. Among them are four foreign volunteers currently residing in Shanghai.
The professional volunteers will support five main service categories: interpretation at Country Exhibition pavilions, reception in the Business Exhibition area, multilingual translation, coordination services, and foreign-related legal assistance.
In addition, Shanghai's Qingpu district, in collaboration with other organizations, has recruited volunteers to promote urban civility. They will be stationed across 10 service hubs, 72 service posts, and 97 service points, with 41 located in and around the core area of the NECC (Shanghai).
More than 200 volunteers are expected to be on duty daily, forming a comprehensive and welcoming service network for the expo.
