Although he doesn't speak Chinese, Cypriot composer and filmmaker Marios Joannou Elia chose to discover Shanghai through another universal language: sound.
In his documentary Sound of Shanghai, sound takes center stage, bringing to life the beauty of Chinese intangible cultural heritage and the distinctive character of Shanghai. Working with Chinese artists, Elia takes audiences around the world on a vivid sonic journey through the city's cultural heritage.
