2024 SIAL Shanghai international food show comes to town

The 2024 SIAL Shanghai – a preeminent international food show – opened on May 28 and winds up on May 30 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in East China's Shanghai, showcasing a diverse and wonderful range of global food and drink products.

With over 5,000 exhibitors from 75 countries and regions, the event features more than 350,000 items.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, SIAL Shanghai is said to have reached new heights of internationalization, fueled by China's booming economy and growing demand for imported foods.

The exhibition addresses the insatiable appetite of consumers for innovation and sustainability, spotlighting cutting-edge technologies and trendy products.

Among the exhibitors, about 40 percent are from the Chinese mainland, while the rest hail from various places overseas. Highlights include the finest meats from the USA, Brazil and Argentina, French bread and wine, Russian chocolates and king crab, as well as delicacies from Denmark, Malaysia, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and numerous Chinese brands.

Accompanying the exhibition is the release of the 2024 Food Innovation White Paper, which has an analysis of global food market trends and strategies for profitability.

Most notably, this year sees increased government participation in the event, with 32 provincial and city departments and trade associations offering support from regions across China.
