Shanghai hosts high-profile fashion events
Shanghai's skyline shone brightly over three nights as the city hosted a series of high-profile fashion events from Sept 17 to 19.
The debut of Vivienne Westwood's Spring/Summer 2025 collection kicked off the festivities, followed by an immersive event by Moncler Genius and a spectacular evening presented by Mercedes-Benz.
Moncler Genius, an innovative initiative launched by luxury outerwear brand Moncler, aims to redefine the fashion landscape through collaborative creativity.
On the evening of Sept 19, more than 8,000 guests gathered along the Huangpu River for Moncler's "The City of Genius" event. Spanning over 30,000 square meters, the massive exhibition featured 10 distinct zones, highlighting innovative creativity from around the globe. This was the first time a Moncler Genius event was held outside of Europe, underscoring Shanghai's importance to the brand. Chief Executive Officer Remo Ruffini noted that Shanghai has held a special significance for Moncler since the opening of its first flagship store in 2009.
Ruffini's admiration for the city is evident. He commented on the transformative changes Shanghai has undergone since his first visit in 2005. This spirit of creativity and growth inspired Moncler to choose Shanghai as a key venue for its events. The involvement of local artists, including LuLu Li and Xu Bing, further connected the event to Chinese culture, showcasing a vibrant exchange of ideas.
Other notable highlights included the unveiling of Vivienne Westwood's stunning collection and Mercedes-Benz's "G-Class Night", where the iconic vehicle was reimagined in a dazzling 3D-printed design. These events demonstrate not only Shanghai's growing influence on the global fashion scene, but also its potential as a launchpad for international brands.
