AI-powered future goes on display at MWC Shanghai
At the recently concluded Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2025 — held from June 18 to 20 — telecom giant China Mobile unveiled a dedicated display of what it calls "three new smart products".
The term refers to innovations including AI-powered smartphones and computers, new energy vehicles and humanoid robots — representing the next wave of digital technology-driven consumption.
China Mobile's exhibition area featured three core sections: AI smart terminals, intelligent connected vehicles and smart robots.
Among the biggest crowd-pullers were AI-powered smart glasses, offering real-time translations, teleprompting and navigation, powered by the Jiutian large-scale AI model.
Smartphones, now acting as digital personal assistants, allow users to control both built-in and third-party apps entirely by voice — streamlining daily tasks at home and work.
In the mobility section, China Mobile introduced its intelligent in-car system — a highly connected smart cabin that integrates with home devices.
Featuring innovations such as the world's first "one SIM, three terminals" authentication system and a super SIM car key, drivers can now unlock their vehicles with NFC, control home appliances remotely and automatically upload driving footage to the cloud. Entertainment and navigation are all voice-controlled, marking a new era of "human-vehicle-home" integration.
Robotics also made a strong showing. A wheeled companion robot designed for elderly care can recognize users, provide personalized support, remind them to take medication and even record vlogs.
In addition, a four-legged robot dog assists visually impaired users with mapping, navigation and obstacle avoidance. Elsewhere, humanoid robots demonstrated natural conversation skills and the ability to perform complex tasks such as sorting and item retrievals.
China Mobile also unveiled its "AI+ network" initiative, aimed at building smarter cities. Applications include:
- AI+ video networks: Real-time crowd monitoring and visual analysis at public events.
- AI+ smart parking: Automated space allocation, license plate recognition and instant payments.
- AI+ unmanned stores: 24/7 retail outlets with no staff members, reducing costs and improving efficiency.
