The Shanghai Stock Exchange and Kazakhstan's Astana International Exchange signed a memorandum of understanding on June 30, signaling a renewed commitment to deepening collaboration and fostering closer ties between the two capital markets.

Kazakhstan was among the earliest participants in the Belt and Road Initiative, having joined a decade ago.

In 2017, the SSE forged a strategic partnership with the Astana International Financial Centre, becoming a shareholder in the AIX. Since then, the AIX has steadily built a robust market infrastructure and regulatory ecosystem, making significant strides in attracting both issuers and investors.

The newly signed MoU outlines enhanced cooperation in key areas such as information exchange, market promotion, and product development. It also establishes a stronger foundation for capital market integration between China and Kazakhstan, reinforcing their shared commitment to the broader objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative.
