Enjoy night kayaking in the heart of Shanghai

A new experience is drawing Shanghai residents back to the water as night kayaking through Yangpu's ecological corridors offers a tranquil journey past lotus ponds and tree-lined channels, where fireflies glow softly in the evening air.

Launched this summer at New Jiangwan City Park, the 90-minute guided route offers a rare blend of sport and serenity. Led by professional coaches, the journey winds through green corridors, often described as a "mini Amazon". As twilight deepens, the atmosphere grows calm, and like something out of a storybook, fireflies begin to flicker among the trees.

With upgraded infrastructure and a growing lineup of aquatic activities, the park's water sports center is transforming Yangpu's waterways into a dynamic urban leisure space where fitness, ecology, and a touch of magic meet.
