University of Shanghai for Science and Technology invites global talent to apply for 2025 Excellent Young Scholars Fund (Overseas)

The University of Shanghai for Science and Technology invites outstanding global researchers to apply for the 2025 Excellent Young Scholars Fund (Overseas) administered by China's National Natural Science Foundation.

 

Eligibility criteria

  • Born on or after Jan 1, 1985.
  • Hold a doctoral degree.
  • Specialize in natural sciences, engineering, or related fields.
  • Have held a formal teaching or research position at an overseas university, research institute, or corporate R&D center for at least 36 consecutive months after obtaining their doctoral degree and before April 15, 2025.
  • Applicants with exceptional achievements and a doctoral degree earned abroad may qualify for a reduction in the required work experience.
  • Applicants should not have taken up full-time employment in China, except for those who have been working in China since Jan 1, 2024.
  • Upon funding approval, applicants should resign from overseas positions and commit to full-time work in China for at least three years.

 

Support

  • Laboratory and office space will be provided, along with competitive research startup funding.
  • An annual salary system will be used during the contract period, offering competitive compensation, benefits, and housing allowances.
  • High-quality educational resources will be available for children at affiliated primary and secondary schools, as well as kindergartens.
  • Global premium health insurance will be provided, with priority medical services from partner institutions.
  • Eligibility will be granted to apply for related overseas programs in Shanghai, with additional funding available upon approval.
