Six tracks hosted by leading universities

The competition features six specialized tracks, each hosted by a prominent Shanghai university:
- Biomedicine: Fudan University
- Artificial intelligence and financial technology: Shanghai Jiao Tong University
- Cultural creativity and industrial innovation: Tongji University
- Next-generation information technology: East China Normal University
- New energy, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection: Shanghai University
- High-end equipment manufacturing: University of Shanghai for Science and Technology

Two competition categories

- Creativity group: For projects with scientific and technological achievements or innovative products with market potential. Projects must not yet be commercially registered.
- Startup group: For projects with high technological innovation or established products and service models. Eligible projects must:
> Be registered within the past five years (since 2019).
> Have received no more than one round of equity investment.
> The project leader holds at least a 10 percent equity stake in the company.

Who can participate

The competition is open to:
- Current students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and vocational school attendees.
- Graduates from the past five years (since 2019).
- Students from the Open University of China.
The project leader must be the primary founder or a core team member. For the startup group, the leader must hold shares in the organization, either directly or indirectly.

Competition schedule

1. Launch: November 2024
2. Project submission: November 2024 – April 8, 2025
- Teams must register on the official website and submit the following materials:
> Project information form
> Business plan
> Presentation PPT
> ID proof, commitment letter, and proof of participation
- The PPT must have at least 10 slides (excluding the cover and table of contents) and include:
> Project overview
> Product value
> Team introduction
> Competitive advantages
> Market potential
> Past achievements
> Future development plans
3. Project evaluation:
Projects from China and overseas will be evaluated separately in the creativity and startup categories.
- Preliminary round (mid-April 2025):
Each track’s host university will organize an online review of the business plans and presentation PPTs.
- Semifinal (late April 2025):
Domestic teams will present in person at their track’s host university.
International teams can apply for online presentations for review.
- Final (May 2025):
Domestic teams will present in person, while international teams can apply for online presentations to be evaluated.

Awards and advancement

Each track will present:
- One first prize
- Two second prizes
- Three third prizes
- Several finalist awards
Outstanding instructor and organizer awards will also be presented.
First and second prize winners will qualify for the semifinals of the Shanghai Global Talents Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition.
