Sports park reopens after renovation
Closed for renovation since July, Tangxiang Park in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area reopened to the public on Monday, the first day of the new year, just in time for holidaymakers and sports lovers to enjoy its refurbished facilities and new botanical designs.
The renovation of the 711,200-square-meter sports park focused on preserving the natural environment while adding new features related to sports, according to the Shanghai Landscaping and City Appearance Administrative Bureau. Planners have planted various flora that will bloom in different seasons to offer botanical appeal year-round.
The park has developed four routes: sports and fitness, camping and leisure, cycling, and ecological experiences.

Featuring garden landscapes, the 1.2-kilometer cycling route combines cycling, running and walking paths to create a greenway. It will also be connected to the greenways of nearby Beigongyuan and Mianxi parks.

With improved water quality, the ecological-experience route creates a diverse habitat for birds, amphibians and insects to protect biodiversity.
