The 23rd Robotex Asian Festival, an annual robotics competition and carnival that originated in Estonia, took place from Jan 27 to 28 in Shanghai.

Distinguished as a high-level science and technology innovation event, Robotex attracted over 16,000 competitors and over 100,000 on-site visitors across Asia, including China, South Korea, and India.

Featuring an array of 18 competitions, including smart construction, animal rescue, tanks, and future creation, the event focused on showcasing participants' expertise and innovations and aimed to increase interest in engineering and science among young people.

Robotex has evolved into a multifaceted gathering since its debut in Shanghai in 2019, encompassing competitions, conferences, tech exhibitions, and workshops.

A more forward-thinking education platform for electronic competitive sports will be forged, said the international organizing committee of Robotex. This endeavor is poised to facilitate the exchange and collaboration of talents, ignite the curiosity of the younger generation, and inject vitality into science and technology.

The Robotex was jointly launched by the Tallinn University of Technology and the University of Tartu in Estonia in 2001, which was initially a graduation design competition among students from several colleges. It established a connection with China in 2016 when a Chinese team composed of students from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology participated in this competition.
