As Spring Festival approaches, the Longhua lantern show kicked off at Longhua Square in Xuhui district, adding a festive atmosphere to Shanghai.

Visitors can take Metro Line 11 or Line 12 to Longhua Station and take Exit 2 to Longhua Square to enjoy the lantern show, which runs every day from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

During the evenings, a pool on the square reflects the lanterns, presenting a colorful show of lights against the serene backdrop of the Longhua Pagoda in the near distance.

The festive scene has attracted many visitors and has become popular on social media.

"I saw this beautiful scene online, so after work today, I rushed over from Hanzhong Road to take some photos," said a visitor surnamed Liu.

The Longhua Temple, built in 977 during the Song Dynasty (960 to 1279), is Shanghai's oldest and largest ancient temple. The Longhua Pagoda, located at the southern point of the temple with seven stories and eight-sided wooden structure, represents a classic architectural style of the Song Dynasty.

In addition to the lanterns, there are other interesting activities around Longhua Square. Longhua Hui, a commercial street that opened last September, has been widely popular among citizens since its opening. This commercial street has also prepared interesting interactive features for this year's Spring Festival.

From the visual corridor of the Longhua Hui open-air platform, residents can admire the lantern show and pagoda from a distance and participate in the AR interactive mini-program "Kongming Lantern Blessing" activity. By scanning the QR code, participants can write down their wishes and virtually release a Kongming lantern online.
