Shanghai port's vehicle imports, exports surge during Spring Festival
During the Spring Festival holiday, Shanghai Haitong International Automobile Terminal at Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Port imported and exported nearly 30,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of nearly 30 percent, according to data by the Shanghai Entry-Exit Border Inspection General Station.
During Feb 10 to 17, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station inspected nearly 20 international roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels carrying imported and exported complete vehicles, a year-on-year increase of more than 17 percent, according to Shanghai's border inspection authority.
The Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station has optimized the handling process of international ro-ro vessels. Through online processing, it offers convenient procedures for border inspection and Customs clearance and provides "zero waiting" port service for the vessels.

"In 2023, an average of two to three ro-ro ships departed from the Haitong terminal every day, heading for more than 100 countries and regions around the world," said Huang Ribo, executive director of terminal operations. "More than 800 ro-ro ships enjoyed the convenient border inspections and Customs clearance measures throughout the year, saving enterprises more than 1,000 hours of production operation times at terminal berths."
In total, the Haitong terminal exported approximately 1.03 million vehicles in 2023, which is a new record after exports exceeded 1 million vehicles for the first time in 2022.
