Shanghai Baoshan Railway Station, serving as a transportation hub in northern Shanghai's urban area, will begin construction by year-end and be operational in 2027, announced the Baoshan district government on its official WeChat account.

It is estimated that the daily passenger flow of the train station will reach 148,000 with approximately 54 million passengers transported annually.

The station, consisting of eight platforms and 18 tracks, will fill the void in passenger railway hubs in northern Shanghai. It will serve several major railways in the region, including the railway connecting Shanghai, Nanjing of Jiangsu province, and Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province, as well as the railway that links Shanghai, Suzhou, and Nantong in Jiangsu province. Both railways are also under construction.

In addition to Baoshan Railway Station, Shanghai has other high-speed railway stations under construction, including Shanghai East Station, Shanghai Chongming Station, Shanghai Songjiang Station, and Shanghai Xinzhuang Station.
