Shanghai is set to advance the construction of more than 3,800 15-minute community circle projects citywide by the end of this year. The city has also initiated demonstration pilot projects for embedded community service facilities in no fewer than 100 communities, as announced by the city's political advisory body during a progress meeting held on June 26.

The initiative underscores Shanghai's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for local residents through the establishment of comprehensive community hubs. Within these circles, residents will have convenient access to essential services such as elderly care, education, and neighborhood enhancements within a 15-minute walk.

Chairing the meeting, Hu Wenrong, chairman of the Shanghai People's Political Consultative Conference, emphasized that the well-being of residents is pivotal for a successful society. He underscored how the initiative aligns with the city's vision of fostering communities that cater to all of the residents’needs.

Hu reiterated the SPPCC's unwavering commitment to promoting the initiative, highlighting how members contribute valuable suggestions and expertise to enhance residents' happiness, security, and overall well-being. Looking ahead, the SPPCC will continue to prioritize addressing key livelihood issues affecting the lives of local residents.

This year, Shanghai aims to tackle pressing community challenges by launching over 3,800 related projects. Furthermore, the city plans to open 40 community service spaces and implement pilot programs for embedded community facilities in at least 100 communities, according to discussions held during the meeting.
