The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment recently released the 2023 Report on the State of the Ecology and Environment in Shanghai Municipality.

According to the report, in 2023, Shanghai enjoyed excellent or good air quality 87.7 percent of the time, marking an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared to 2022. The water quality of drinking water sources in the city met the required standards, with further improvements observed in the main rivers and lakes.
