The Yangtze River Delta region has witnessed a notable increase in rail passenger flow, with a 5 percent year-on-year rise in July. This is equal to an additional 4.4 million passengers, according to the China Railway Shanghai Group.

Over the span of the 31-day summer peak, railways in the Yangtze River Delta region facilitated the transportation of an impressive 85.5 million passengers, averaging 2.75 million passengers per day. Noteworthy statistics reveal that the railways in the region accommodated more than 3 million passengers on six days during this period, reaching a peak of 3.28 million passengers on July 6.

Jiangsu province emerged as a key contributor to the region's rail passenger volume, facilitating the travel of nearly 29.8 million passengers, the highest among the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, as well as Shanghai. The busting Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station stood out with the most passengers, having an average that exceeded 256,000 passengers per day, marking a record high for summer travel.

A standout feature of the summer travel season was the red history-themed train connecting Shanghai and Jiaxing, a city in Zhejiang province. The train, known as Y701/Y702, has experienced a continuous influx of passengers, attracting tourists from various cities. By the end of July, this themed train had warmly welcomed 75,000 tourists.
