Shanghai has set up a special fund to lure top cultural and entertainment events from around the world as the city seeks to tap into the spending potential of people from home and abroad.

According to guiding documents issued by the city, the special fund will support projects in four categories namely the introduction of internationally-renowned or top-tier domestic concerts and music festivals, the introduction of exceptional performances by world-renowned or domestic famous troupes staged at national-level cultural and arts festivals, the introduction of internationally-renowned or top-tier domestic cultural or art exhibitions, and the introduction of international cruise routes.

A candidate project conducted from Jan 1 to June 30 is eligible for application. One project is only allowed to apply for subsidies from the special fund under a single category.

Applicants are required to submit complete, authentic, and valid documents bearing the official seal of the applying organization.

The deadline for application is Sept 10.
