Shanghai Maritime Law Community hosts conference for innovation in maritime arbitration
In a bid to foster innovation in maritime arbitration and drive changes in shipping law, the pioneering Shanghai Maritime Law Community hosted its inaugural joint conference on Sept 19 at the North Bund located in Shanghai's Hongkou district.
Established through a collaborative effort between the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Transport and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice last year, the Shanghai Maritime Law Community convened a gathering that saw the participation of 33 member units hailing from government bureaus, arbitration agencies, law schools, and industry associations. Their collective aim was to offer comprehensive suggestions and services geared towards elevating Shanghai as a preeminent International Shipping Center.
Amidst the conference proceedings, significant strides were made as the Shanghai Maritime University China Maritime Arbitration Commission Shanghai branch, the Shanghai Arbitration Commission, and district maritime safety administrations came together to formalize an agreement aimed at enhancing translation services for pivotal documents and regulations within the maritime domain.
Representatives from the member entities took to the podium to deliver insightful speeches, shedding light on the roadmap for a promising future envisioned for both the Shanghai Maritime Law Community and the city itself as it aspires to cement its status as a leading International Shipping Center.
