Traffic restrictions announced for New Year's Eve
Traffic restrictions will be in place in part of Shanghai from Dec 31, 2024, to Jan 1, 2025, the city's police announced.
From 8 pm on Dec 31, 2024, to 1 am on Jan 1, 2025, all vehicles will be prohibited from entering the area surrounded by Beisuzhou Road, North Xizang Road, Middle Xizang Road, West Beijing Road, North Chengdu Road, East Yan'an Road, South Xizang Road, East Fuxing Road, Waima Road and the Huangpu riverside.
The area covers numerous tourist attractions, including Yuyuan Garden and the City God Temple. The roads listed above are excluded from the restriction.
The Jiangxi Road off-ramp from Yan'an Elevated Road will be closed, with the Bund Tunnel accessible to vehicles.
During the traffic control period, only police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, and emergency engineering vehicles will be allowed access to the controlled area.
The time and area of traffic restrictions will be adjusted according to traffic conditions.
