Shanghai to finish '1,000 parks' goal by year-end

Shanghai will build 120 new parks this year, bringing the total number of parks across the city to more than 1,000, said the city's Landscaping and City Appearance Administrative Bureau on April 2.
Among the 120 new parks, 20 will be open 24/7. Child-friendly facilities will be installed in 25 existing parks to create more inclusive recreational spaces.
In addition to the new parks, the city plans to add 1,000 hectares of green space and 2,000 hectares of forest.
Moreover, 130 kilometers of new greenways and 400,000 square meters of vertical greenery will be built.
The initial construction plan for the Shanghai Chenshan National Botanical Garden, which will center around the Chenshan Botanical Garden, has been submitted to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration for approval.
According to a national plan, China aims to establish eight additional national botanical gardens by 2035, including the Shanghai Chenshan National Botanical Garden.
