Shanghai Disney Resort hosts forum celebrating Earth Day

Shanghai Disney Resort marked Earth Day on April 22 with the ourHOME Nature Conservation Forum, an event aimed at raising awareness of environmental conservation and promoting a green lifestyle.
The forum brought together leading figures in wildlife conservation, sharing their adventures and insights with the public.
One of the highlights was Zhao Yahui, a researcher from the Institute of Zoology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who shared with the audience his stories about cavefish.
Specializing in freshwater fish, particularly cave-dwelling species, Zhao has made significant contributions to the field by identifying and naming numerous fish species.
His fieldwork in the Karst region of southwestern China, known for its limestone landscapes, has provided valuable insights into the impact of human activities on wild species.
The forum featured a panel discussion among experts in nature conservation, focusing on the significance of exploring nature in environmental protection and education.
The experts emphasized that exploration of nature can take place in various settings, not just in the wilderness, and shared important guidelines for observing wildlife responsibly, that is, "no feeding, no touching, and no harming".
The Youth Environmental Inspiration Program, part of the event and held in collaboration with the Shanghai Science and Education Development Foundation, recognized the top 10 winning teams for their innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
Through creative technologies, environmental studies, and art creations, the projects focused on waste reduction, low-carbon practices, and energy efficiency, inspiring young participants to contribute to sustainability efforts.
The Celebrate Earth Month Fair held at Disneytown provided an interactive platform for families, students, and visitors to engage in eco-friendly activities promoting a low-carbon mindset.
Participants had the opportunity to play mini-games and win prizes such as limited-edition themed stickers and seed papers, encouraging them to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.

In addition to the forum and fair, Shanghai Disney Resort demonstrated its commitment to nature conservation through ongoing environmental protection initiatives.
The installation of 3,921 solar panels on 24 buildings has reduced carbon emissions by an impressive 1127.4 metric tons, while the transition of 40 hybrid shuttle buses to fully electric models is expected to further reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1,000 tons annually.
Furthermore, the implementation of 23 light-guide systems in office buildings harnesses natural sunlight to reduce energy consumption and promote sustainability.
