Shanghai strengthens global ties in automotive sector
Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with global executives from international enterprises participating in the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition on April 23.

Gong highlighted Shanghai's focus on its automotive industry, saying that the city has become a major automotive hub thanks to years of sustained investment by both domestic and international vehicle and component manufacturers.
The city is now accelerating efforts to build a world-class automotive industry center, Gong said.
Gong encouraged international companies to increase their investments in Shanghai, enhance the capabilities of their local research and development centers, and accelerate the transformation of technological innovations into practical applications.
During the meeting, five executives from leading global automotive suppliers: Martin Fischer, CEO of French automotive technology supplier Forvia; Jorg Buchheim, CEO of German auto parts company Webasto SE; Olivier Rabiller, CEO of Switzerland emission technology company Garrett; Christophe Perillat, CEO of French auto parts supplier Valeo; and Stefan Krug, CEO and COO of German automotive parts manufacturing company Brose Group shared their insights.
The executives underscored their companies' deep-rooted ties with Shanghai, highlighting how their operations have grown from serving the local market to supporting the wider Chinese market and global business.
They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding their presence and deepening their investments in the city, noting that China remains a strategic priority for future growth.
